"O, Give Me Burning Blue"

I thought I was going to have the PERFECT post
for this week's Midweek Blues.
I was going to a Blueberry Festival in Bethlehem, PA.
Perfect, right?

Well, it was not to be...
Shortly after we dropped the kids off to ride bikes along the Lehigh Canal,
my husband and I went to the Blueberry Festival.
We toured this historic home on the premises:
The Burnside Plantation

First stop was the kitchen,
which in colonial times was not part of the home.

The master bedroom was beautiful.
I especially like the yellow wood stove.

The servant's room,
was accessed by the tiniest staircase ever.

And right about now.... my phone rang.

One of the kids had a flat tire.
And kids being kids,
they were not particularly interested in the Blueberry Festival.

So we spent the rest of the day walking around old Bethlehem.

We talked with the Blacksmith
in the Colonial Industrial Quarter.

So, I do not have blueberry goodies to show you,
but I did find a few other blues
and my story too.

By the way, the Burnside Plantation
had been scheduled for demolition
to make way for town homes.
Thankfully, someone stepped in
and prevented that from happening!

You just take the best pictures of people doing what they do. Who cares that you missed the Blueberry Festival. We had one here and I missed it too! So, see, it wasn't such a big deal, was it? If you had gone we would have missed out on this great story. Especially about the fact that this historic place is going to be around for a little longer.
