Are We There Yet?

They come in by the thousands
as a cacophony of barking and honking fills the air.

Here, they take brief respit during their 3,000 mile
trek from their wintering grounds
enroute to their nesting grounds
in the Arctic tundra.

Families travel together.
Flying at an altitude of almost 3,000 feet
they cover 50 miles per hour.

While feeding on the ground,
lookouts keep a watch for predators.
Upon sighting a threat,
they call out
encouraging the entire flock to take flight.

This is a Snow Goose Migration.
A pretty amazing sight.

They look like a big wave of little dots. FYI, the Middle Creek Gallery is password protected.

Wow. I bet that is quite the sight to see in person. We don't get any kind of massive flight migration here like that. I don't think you are too far away from me, so I might have to plan out a road trip one year to experience this in person!

Aren't they amazing? You need to really see this in person to truly appreciate the magnitude and beauty! Great job.

Oh my goodness, I had to look at this because the first of January, we had maybe a couple hundred behind our house on the golf course and I was thrilled and posted about it, but this is soooo much better and your shots are just beautiful. Mine were with an Iphone, so you know the quality wasn't there. Love this!

These are beautiful shots. I would love to see this in person. What a wonderful sight! My favorite is the last shot where they look like they are their own little cloud. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Next time be sure and leave the URL to your blog too!

Would love to see that.

Beautiful shots! This would be a wonderful sight! We get plenty of Canada geese here, but nothing like the numbers you've shot. This is quite a treat.
