Oh, The Irony

Oh, The Irony #1

Twenty some years ago
I had a little girl who was afraid of sirens.
When she heard sirens near or far
she would come running to us saying,
"Scared Woo-woos, Scared Woo-woos."
Today, she is married to a Police Officer.
Oh, The Irony.

Big sister always took her meds
and wasn't scared of silly woo-woos.

Oh, The Irony #2

That same little girl refused to go to the doctors.
She would grab hold of the door frames
kicking and screaming
as I entered the office with her.
(This was not so cute.)
She would refuse to open her mouth
for the doctor.
She refused to take meds.
and would spit them out.
We had to hold her down
until she swallowed them.
Today, she is a nurse.
Oh, The Irony.

Haircut by Big Sister -
who did not grow up to be a stylist...thankfully.
Well, Mom's reaction to the haircut probably put that out of her mind...forever.

Oh, The Irony #3

It is impossible to get through
to my doctor's office by telephone.
When you call
you wait on hold endlessly
and are often disconnected.
It is easier to drive there to make an appointment,
which I recently did.
When there, I asked to speak to the office manager
about the situation.
I was told she would call me.
When she called me -
my cell phone kept ringing
and then cut her off, twice.
Oh, The Irony.

  10. I chuckled at your last story. I love how some children's hairstyles never go out of style. I wore dogears as a little girl, just like your little girls did many years later. And even today, dogears look so cute on little girls. I wish I could still wear them but there's nothing cute about white dogears!
