Gorgeous Butterflies in Winter at Dow Gardens

It was very spring-ish here in Pennsylvania last week,
but I was in Michigan
and it was not very spring-ish there.

But I did find spring in wintry Michigan -
at the Dow Gardens Butterflies in Bloom exhibit.

It was toasty warm inside the butterfly house -
no coats required.
(But I did have to wait for my camera to defog from the cold.)

There were lots of varieties of butterflies...
more than I have ever seen.

Some butterflies were very friendly and others quite elusive.

It would be difficult to leave without
having one land on you at some point.
I had one on my head and one on my camera.
More butterfly images are here.

Beautiful butterflies! Am in awe that they all posed for you:)
Would appreciate your continued presence on Seasons - it has grown week by week, and I cannot thank you enough for immediately jumping in when it started month ago. Would love to see one of these captures this week! Enjoy this week!

Thank you for linking up, and being a part of SEASONS!
The Electric company pays for cutting trees close to power lines (of course, they have now some law suits going on -sigh -you know, California). Private compagnies charge here $600 per tree to be cut! So for 12 trees to be cut, you can do the math..

Totally love your photos. The details are incredible. I have always loved butterflies. Well, my blog's name is Tanama Tales. A tanama is a butterfly in the Taino language.

You missed Spring, it was the week before in Michigan. I missed it too since we were in the Caribbean :) Great butterfly exhibit. We have one near us at the Fredrick Meijer Gardens, it goes until the end of April. We are hoping for that return of spring, so we can do the outside gardens at the same time.

What great shots you got! The butterfly house nearest our house is nice but the 'landing places' for them are not easy to shoot.

When we lived in Germany there was a butterfly house down the road from us. I loved going there in the deep of winter. I vividly remember stepping into the butterfly house and feeling overwhelmingly warm... ahhh. Lovely pictures, it took me right back to our adventures.
