The Monk and The Sand

The Monk

One practice of Tibetan monks
is the creation of sand mandalas.

The Sand

These mandalas are used for healing and meditation.

The Tools

The site is first prepared with music and chants.

The Techique

Special funnels are used to place the sand.

A Lot of Concentration

Don't sneeze....

The Product

When completed,
the sand mandala is destroyed
signifying the impermanence of life.
The remains are distributed
to share the blessings.

More sand mandala images can be found here.
