A Cool Architectural Find

A surprising find in Bay City Michigan -
the City Hall!

This building is like a castle and was built in 1894.

The crazy thing is,
you can just walk in and start taking pictures.
Try that in Philly and you'll get arrested!

I felt uncomfortable doing that
so I looked for someone to ask.
There was no one around...no reception...no security.

I finally found a payment office and asked,
"Sure, take all the photos you want."
Wow.

The clock tower is free to tour on your own as well.
From there you can get a bird's eye view of the 'city.'
Which is hardly a city.

If you like architecture,
definitely tour this place.

301 Washington Ave, Bay City, MI 48708

More of my images from Bay City are here.

I never tried to go in Philly City Hall, thanks for that tip. You found a polished gem, what fantastic details! It seems eerily quiet.

I think this might top the list of your most amazing FINDS.. and part of the amazing is it is empty and you could take pics... I can't even pick a favorite. I LOVE THEM ALL.

Oh my gosh, I kind of skirted around Bay City when I was that way in September. But...if I ever get back over there, I want to tour both places!

Oh my gosh, of course you can walk right in and snap photos! I lived in Bay City for a couple of years, (I was born and raised in Michigan) and Bay City is quaint! The city hall is exceptional and much like the ones in Minnesota where I live now. You can walk in to these small town city halls and court houses and snap photos here too!
