Lady in Blue

I went to anAmerican Civil War encampment
at Graeme Park in Horsham, PA
I had never visited there before
and was able to take advantage of a
tour of the Keith House.

One of the reeactors was this lovely lady
dressed in blue.
Her dress is Civil War era.

Although the house is steeped in
Revolutionary War era history
it did exist and house a family
through the Civil War as well.

The history surrounding Keith House
is fascinating
and I will post on that
in the near future.

Seeing our Lady in Blue there
gave you the feel of a glimpse
back in time.

The complete photo gallery is here.

If you go...
We had a wonderful tour by a
very knowledgeable high school senior.
The grounds are free and
Keith House tours are only $5.
If you live nearby, please stop in!
These historic places
have suffered severe budget cuts
and need our help to survive
through the current economy.

Geeze, I work, like 5 minutes from Graeme Park. I've visited during the week, bit not on weekends. The house and barn are really nice, but I've never seen the inside.

At first I thought her fur was mink but thinking on it further it is probably beaver if it is characteristic of Civil War era. Pure speculation on my part, however!

That looks like a nice place to visit, Rebecca. And for you guys it would be a pretty Spring ride going and coming.
BTW, you have already read about my little blue man. Thank you for your nice comment. Mrs. Jim's back is so-so still.

What an elegant lady, dressed in that deep blue, and with all of those furs. Hardly ever see that nowadays.
What an interesting place, so steeped in history. Here in the NW, we don't have any structures from the 1700's, just very old trees!

You capture the essence of the era very well. If one didn't know, she looks just like a woman from the civil war. I'll have to check it out, since it's nearby.

They have these kind of things near where I live, but I've never gone to one. Your photos makes me want to go the next time I see one advertised though!
