A Christmas Tree Pilgrimage

Where I live the only places to buy Christmas trees
are in parking lots.
:(

I am soooo not buying a Christmas Tree from a parking lot.
So we trek north to a Christmas Tree Farm.
:)

Not as far north as the North Pole...
but pretty close!

We debate over which tree is the best tree.
And once decided,
it is cut and hauled home.

But first it is shaken....

and wrapped...

then placed on the rooftop.

And that completes our annual
Christmas Tree Pilgrimage!

Do you have an annual holiday tradition too?
Tell me about it!

your family is really lovely Rebecca :)
thankfully we have one tree farm nearby, all else is parking lots too

our greatest tradition is me and my son arguing about the who got the lights all tangled up
in the spirit of Mother Mary I always take the blame ;)

We gave up on the "real" tree a few years ago. Have to say that altho I miss the fights in the fields over which tree is better....I do like how many more lights are on a pre-lit tree than a I could EVER get on a real one. So many traditions, I guess our "funnest" one is that on Christmas Eve, after church service we all watch "A Christmas Story" and order Chinese food....BECAUSE....in the movie they end up at a Chinese Restaurant. Been doing it for about 15 years now. Oh yeah, we also recite all the GOOD lines verbatim. Happy decorating!

I love going out for the Christmas tree every year! I will be sad when I'm too old and decrepit to do this (never!) This year we are waiting for our daughter to come home on the 20th (she wants to participate), then we'll get the tree, & the rest of the fam shows up within 2 days. This is maybe my favorite thing about Christmas, and in western Oregon there are Christmas tree farms everywhere. We hardly have to go anywhere; just 5 or 10 minutes' drive.

I agree with you, Rebecca. Natural trees freshly cut are the best and you go a really nice one!

The last time we got a real tree was about nine years ago. Since and before then we use artificial. The pre-lit kind are the best for us seniors. I will post it when it gets decorated. It was up before we left for Charlotte but only the lights, no decorations. :)

We started using an artificial tree last year, my son has bad allergies. I like it, it looks nice. I like Kathy's tradition, I should 'borrow' it. That farm looks familiar, is it on N. Chapman Rd off Ferry Rd?

What a handy cart the trees are being put on! Here, it would be costly to get a tree from a tree farm, since I probably would have to drive a while (to find a REAL tree farm). Sigh, one of the advantages of country living:) Hope you're going to show us your decorated tree too?

I like your meme.

Nothing like a real Christmas tree but I'm allergic. Still I like your outing.

When I was a kid my dad was a Forest Ranger. We lived in Ranger Stations all over Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. So for a tree, he'd buy a permit to cut one and the whole family would load up in truck and head up into mountains to get a tree on the National Forest. Still remember those outings.

That's a nice tradition Rebecca. Your kids are so gorgeous.

Last year I had a fake white plastic tree that was only about 3 feet tall. This year, I'm not sure what we're doing because we haven't done anything yet. I guess I'm procrastinating.

I have a Christmas Journal that I make everyone write in at Christmas time. We've been doing that since 1998. Everyone dreads the journal but they are always glad when they read the previous years entries.
