Felix and His Flute

I heard the notes echoing beautifully along the walls of City Hall in Philadelphia
and as if they were coming from the Pied Piper,
I followed them.
And what I found...was Felix.

I have seen Felix before in the city,
usually around the Reading Market,
where I have paused and listened.
This time we struck up a conversation.

Felix is talented.
He studied at Panama's Conservatory of Music
and Brooklyn College.
He taught music at Brooklyn College,
Panama Canal College,
National Conservatory of Music and
The University of Panama.

He has also been recorded.
You can hear some of his notes floating among the jazz tunes
 in the recordings here.
But his repertoire is not limited to Jazz,
he is just as comfortable playing Bach.
A pretty impressive resume for a street musician in Philadelphia!

I did not learn all of this from him in this first conversation.
My friend, and fellow photographer Michelle,
soon followed me around the corner to Felix,
and to my surprise...they knew each other!

Michelle had interviewed Felix
and has written a piece about him.
The information here was gathered by Michelle.
She is always one step ahead if me!

Play on Felix!

Delightful story. There is a guitar player in St. Louis that sits outside the opera house and several other theaters on show nights strumming away. He is kind of a prelude to what will be heard inside.
