So It's 2013...

2012 left off with a bang around here.
And I am not talking about New Year's fireworks.

New Year's Eve is my son's birthday.
Poor thing, in an effort to make it a little more special
we always told him the whole world celebrated his birthday.
I am happy to say, despite everything we have had going on recently,
we still managed to remember his birthday as well.

Mexican Wedding Cookies...yum.

Prior to that it was Christmas.
I didn't take many photos this year.
I just wanted to relax.
In fact, I fell asleep Christmas afternoon.

And of course, Christmas Eve brought us our daughter's wedding.
That was exciting, fun, busy, crazy...
but worth every minute.

I have never seen her look as happy as she did the day of her wedding,
except maybe when she was 3 and received a tricycle for Christmas.
But I think she would agree,
her marriage trumps even the bicycle.

The Toast. The best Man is now serving in Afghanistan on his 2nd Tour.
We were thankful we could have him briefly before he left.

The rehearsal dinner, the night before, was also special.
Since her finance grew up in Mexico
his parents cooked up a traditional Mexican meal for everyone.
They even managed to bring from Mexico a life-sized Spiderman piñata for the occasion
(The Groom and his Best Man were Spiderman fans as kids.)

Maid of Honor, aka Daughter #2, takes a swing.

Two days before the wedding
my daughter was rear-ended in a car accident.
Her car was totalled.

It Only Had to Last 6 Months.

Now, in addition to moving to San Diego,
she needs to find a new car to last 6 months.
After 6 months her husband will be finished schooling in the Navy
and they will likely move elsewhere.
They weren't planning on having the car shipped to wherever that might be.

Life has been a whirlwind,
but a good whirlwind.
I am, however, looking forward to a little reprieve
before daughter #2 sets a date for her wedding.

Oh, and I will have some time for blogging in there too.
So I hope to stop by and see you soon,
for now, I still have piles to clean up!

How exciting to have a daughter get married. And on Christmas Eve, at that. You look beautiful in blue!
Yes, you should join in the Teacup memes with your pretty teacups. I don't participate every single week, probably more like once a month. But it's fun. And since I'm drinking tea anyway, might as well take a picture and turn it into a post.
