4 and 20 Blackbirds

No, they aren't baked in a pie...
but they did seem to be on every branch and in every tree.

The Mystery of Fall Migration
Elverson, PA

It was one of those unexpected moments
when I just picked up the camera to catch the motion.

I have seen some big flocks, one with over a thousand birds. A delight to be near a flyway like the Missouri River

these are such beautiful images. The birds are definitely flocking right now..I'm sure they are preparing to head South for the Winter. Beautiful Fall colors in your area!

I'm always so surprised to see birds gather like this. It's like a Hitchcock film, but way more beautiful! These are great!

Looks like they are confused. Selecting the leader for the first trek.

Awesome, you were at the right place at the right time

I've seen starlings do that here in our part of the country, usually in a farmers field.

I love the color and clarity of the photos, even with all in motion. I stopped by the side of a country road once, a long time ago, my children were young. we stepped out of the car to see a large flock of geese in a rice field. must have been the slam of the care door or something spooked them, they all rose as one, circled around to head south, passing over in mass..... all dropping their rice breakfast, we all yelled and dove for the car..... wonderful photos, great memories for me.

Beautiful images, the mass of birds and the lovely colours. I didn't make it this week. Out of town, a grandson is more entertaining than the computer!
